Goddess Durga the form of Shakti (Strength), the cosmic energy that animates all beings, is worshipped to bestow all men with auspiciousness and prosperity. So this puja is done to get strength in life and power in mind. This is a sort of spiritual process which helps in removing fear in mind and hence derive success in life. People belive that Durga Puja can get rid of negative energies in life which act as stumbling block towards success.
